My Top Story of the Century

On May 14th, 1954 school segregation was banned and white and colored kids could go to the same schools. Even though segregation wasn't completely banned and black people were still being discriminated against white people, black people were then allowed to have a better education because the white schools had better teachers and newer materials. This was a turning point in education and i changed the lives of many people.
This event was one of my top 100 events of the 1900's because it affected so many students that went to school in that time period and so many people in the future. This was the beginning of integration and an event that lead to the civil rights movement. They declared the doctrine of "separate but equal" to be unequal and not fair.

On October 29th, 1929 the Stock market crashed on Wall St. and it is also known as Black Tuesday. Billions of dollars were lost, inventors and people around the nation lost tons of money. This was the start of The Great Depression and the downward spiral of the economic downturn.
This event was one of my top 100 events of the 1900's because it was the start of the Great Depression and the economic turmoil we were sent into.
